Agios Ioannis Beach in Mykonos is renowned for its spectacular sunsets and sunrises. The sun goes to the southern skies in sep and oct to produces some of the most astonishing sceneries. In mykonos, Agios Ioannis Beach is also known as the Shirley Valentine due to an English movie filmed here. Agios Ioannis Beach is a sand and pebble with the crystal clear sea ever changing colors as the sun moves around the horizon.

Agios Ioannis Mykonos & Mythical Past

The scenery of the island of Delos is worth mentioning. Greek always present some of the mythical thoughts in the imaginations of the visitors. In the case of the Agios Ioannis Beach one can imagine to the times of Apollo remembered as the mythical god of light. Delos is the place where this event is said to take place, resting in the sandy beach of Agios Ioannis and peeping to the Delos island one can take him/her self to the ancient times. Another story told about this beach is the story of the half female half fish creatures to fear the black market merchants to dock their boats in the dark to unload the black market merchants.

Agios Ioannis Beach is one of the three places of the world where the sun is the most brightest as it was supposed to be the birth place of the god of light (Apollo). Agios Ioannis Beach is the place where the sea talks to you and absorb all of your tensions in itself. A perfect place for the nature loving persons.

Agios Ioannis Mykonos Beach Facilities  

Agios Ioannis Beach is a small, rather tranquil Mykonos beach where you can relax under the sun or enjoy a meal at one of the tavernas just a few footsteps away from the sea. Agios Ioannis Beach is divided into two sections separated by a large, rocky area. On the right side is the dock, a beach, a bus stop and a large parking area. On the left side of the rocks is the longest section of the beach with a limited parking area and a bus stop. On the longer section of the beach there are some umbrellas and sun beds available for rent or there is enough open space to lay a towel on the sand. It is a child-friendly beach with shallow water at the shore line to play in. Winds sometime get nasty but most of the time it is the calmest of the beaches.
